Anatomy of a skeletal muscle cell!

Myofibril- A long filamentous organelle found within muscle cells that has a banded appearance
-Thin Myofilaments- actin protien
-Thick Myoilaments- myosin protien

Sarcolema- outer surface of a muscle cell

Sarcomere- functional unit of a muscle cell

Sarcoplasmic Reticulum- storage site of calcium ions in a muscle cell

Z-disc- zones that seperate sarcomere
A-band- in a sarcomere made up mostly of thick myofilaments
I-band-only composed of thin myofilament
